Spring Papercutting with Anna Brones

Come learn the basics of papercutting by taking inspiration from the season. 

We'll cover the fundamentals of papercutting, and work on creating our own spring-inspired designs while building up papercutting skills. Trilliums, ferns, and dandelions galore!

This workshop is intended to teach you the basics of papercutting, so it is great for beginners or anyone who has tried some papercutting but wants a better grasp on the fundamentals. 

If you already have some papercutting experience, you'll get to build on what you already know, work on developing your skills, and challenge yourself to think creatively about how you visually interpret the world around you. 

If you can't make it in person, participants will have 30-day access to a recording of the workshop.

Suggested materials

• Assorted paper (you'll want to cut on paper that's about the weight of printer or drawing paper, and if you're going to mount pieces bring something a little heavier, like cardstock or watercolor paper)
• Craft knife + blade (Anna uses an Ergo Kiwi and Excel Blades)
• Self-healing cutting mat
• Pencil
• Eraser

Optional

• Pen
• Any type of color (ie watercolor, markers, colored pencils)
• Glue
• Some autumn leaves or branches for inspiration!

Anna Brones is a writer, artist, and the founder of Creative Fuel Collective. She works as a papercut artist, hand cutting illustrations from single pieces of paper, which have been used everywhere from books to wine labels to public art installations. Passionate about sharing creativity with others, she regularly teaches workshops, both in person and virtually.
